Qualifications

Maintenance Fitter

Glenhaven Foods are one of Ireland’s largest poultry processors, specialising in coated, marinated, cooked, and raw frozen poultry across foodservice and retail. Proudly 100% Irish and privately owned, Glenhaven Foods was first established in 1986. Our head office is a purpose-built facility comprising of two separate factories and is home to 180+ colleagues located just outside Arklow, County Wicklow.

As part of the Maintenance Team, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely maintenance of equipment, ensuring compliance with food safety, health & safety, and regulatory standards in an Irish manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment, including conveyors, pumps, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and utilities.
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime and support continuous production.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and associated documentation.
  • Work in compliance with HACCP, BRC, and other food safety standards applicable in Ireland.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities follow site safety procedures, lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO), and permit‑to‑work requirements.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for equipment failures.
  • Assist production teams with technical issues to ensure smooth manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain accurate logs, work orders, and maintenance records using the site’s system.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in equipment reliability and energy efficiency.
  • Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams as required.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Fully qualified Fitter or Mechanical Craftsperson (e.g., QQI Level 6/7 or equivalent recognised Irish apprenticeship).
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally food, dairy, beverage, or pharma.
  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills with experience in: - Pneumatics and hydraulics - Mechanical drives and gearboxes- Pumps, valves, and process equipment Welding/fabrication (advantageous)
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment (HACCP/BRC/ISO 22000) preferred.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with CMMS systems.
