Job summary

Ward & Burke is seeking an M&E Estimator in Charleville. The role focuses on preparing cost estimates, budgets and tender documentation for mechanical and electrical works across water and wastewater infrastructure.

You will develop enquiries, evaluate quotations and collaborate with design teams to deliver competitive tender solutions. A relevant degree and strong estimating software experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering or related field.
• Experience estimating and cost planning for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Sound knowledge of M&E equipment used in the water industry.
• Ability to work independently and with internal/external stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets and tender documentation for M&E works.
• Issue enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers and prepare contract documents.
• Evaluate quotations and assist procurement of M&E packages.
• Collaborate with design team to develop tender solutions.
• Review drawings and tender docs; conduct value engineering.
• Prepare material take-offs and M&E cost estimates.
• Assess supplier/subcontractor quotations and recommend technical/commercial solutions.
• Assist in submission of high-quality tender documentation.
• Review contract amendments and implications.
• Participate in tender adjudication and post-tender negotiations.

M&E Estimator Charleville

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets and tender documentation for Mechanical & Electrical works.
• Develop and issue enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers, including preparation of associated contract documentation.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotations and assist with procurement of M&E packages.
• Collaborate with the engineering design team to develop competitive and cost-effective tender solutions.
• Review and evaluate engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Undertake value engineering assessments to identify opportunities for optimisation and alternative solutions.
• Prepare detailed material take-offs and Mechanical & Electrical cost estimates.
• Assess and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations, recommending the most suitable technical and commercial solutions.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of high-quality technical tender documentation.
• Review contract conditions and evaluate the commercial and contractual implications of proposed amendments.
• Participate in tender adjudication, pricing reviews, and post-tender negotiations to support successful bid outcomes.
• Hold a degree in M&E Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering – or a related discipline.

Required Skills & Experience

The preferred candidate shall:

• Relevant third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Demonstrable experience in estimating and cost planning for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Sound technical knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical equipment commonly used within the water industry.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Highly organised, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word; experience with estimating software is desirable.
• Full, clean Irish or EU driving licence required.
• Authorised to work in Ireland or eligible to secure the appropriate employment permit.
