Job summary

Dawn Meats in Slane, Co. Meath, is hiring a Livestock Procurement Graduate. You will join the Livestock Procurement team, gaining exposure to Procurement & Supply Chain, Lairage, Slaughter, and Quality issues as you develop your skills.

The successful candidate has completed a relevant degree and can start in the coming weeks; you will build relationships with farm suppliers, assist with price and kill requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement across the function.

Qualifications

• A relevant 3rd level degree.

Responsibilities

• Familiarise yourself with the site structure and your base.
• Build and maintain relationships with the Livestock Procurement team.
• Develop knowledge of Procurement & Supply Chain, Lairage, Slaughter, Primary Carcass Breakdown & Yields, Customer Specs, Stock Rotation & Food Safety/Quality.
• Procure livestock from farmers via phone calls, farm visits, shows, and livestock markets.
• Liaise with the Procurement Manager on price, daily kill requirements and any issues.
• Assist in determining cattle and sheep trends to avoid shortfalls in numbers required.
• Work with a continuous improvement mindset across tasks.
• Ensure all relevant paperwork and records are completed and up to date.
