You will lead from the front, develop the management team, and ensure high standards across all departments, with focus on fresh foods, merchandising, and store presentation. Prior senior retail leadership experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Store Manager, General Manager, or senior retail manager in supermarket/high-volume food retail.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience managing sales, margins, payroll and store costs.
• Proven ability to lead and develop large teams; excellent understanding of supermarket operations and fresh food standards.
• Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on leadership style for a busy, demanding environment.
• Track record of delivering against KPIs and improving store performance.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for overall performance and profitability of the supermarket.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a large team including department and senior managers.
• Drive sales, margin, and operational performance while controlling costs and payroll.
• Ensure excellent standards across fresh food, grocery, customer service, merchandising, and store presentation.
• Analyse KPIs and trading performance to identify opportunities to increase sales and profitability.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and create a positive shopping experience.
• Manage stock levels, availability, waste, shrinkage, and inventory controls.
• Ensure policies, food safety, health & safety, and compliance standards are maintained.
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop employees to build a strong management pipeline.
• Work with suppliers, support functions, and senior leadership to achieve objectives.
