Job summary

Abbott in Kilkenny is seeking a Lead Operator to ensure production targets and schedules are met for the line. You will coordinate workflow, provide training and support, and resolve problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires experience in highly automated, high-volume production settings, and the ability to read and follow written English instructions. Collaboration with internal teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum education - Leaving Certificate.
• Experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in a Senior Operator role.
• Experience in a highly automated, high volume manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience in medical device, pharma, automotive, tech, or food industries preferred.
• Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
• Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates work assignments within the production department that includes training, technical support and/or process/trouble shooting support.
• Works with internal resources to resolve problems.
• As the Process Line SME, represents production on projects when needed and trains other employees when necessary.
• Responsible for the startup and shutdown of their line or area.
• Coordinates break schedules and assists with machine operation during breaks.
• Assembles, repairs, inspects and/or tests products following written instructions.
• Set up and operates a variety of manufacturing machines or equipment following written instructions in English.
• Record information on approved documents.
• Solves a wide range of complex problems requiring advanced interpretation of generally defined procedures and practices.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Co-ordinates aspects of the production area workflow (i.e. people, products, and materials) to meet Master Schedule requirements.
• Coordinates work assignments within the production department that includes training, technical support and/or process/trouble shooting support.
• Works with internal resources to resolve problems.
• As the Process Line Subject Matter Expert (SME), represents production on projects when needed and train other employees when necessary.
• Responsible for the startup and shut down of their line or area.
• Coordinate break schedules and assist with machine operation during breaks.
• Assembles, repairs, inspects and/or tests products following written instructions.
• Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and other work-related documents, written in English.
• Set up and operates a variety of manufacturing machines or equipment following written instructions in the English language.
• Clean tools and equipment per documented procedures.
• Record information on approved documents.
• Responsible for compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
• Solves a wide range of complex problems requiring advanced interpretation of generally defined procedures and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum education - Leaving Certificate.
• Previous experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in a Senior Operator role, with demonstrated ability to acquire and apply manufacturing principals is preferred.
• Experience working in a highly automated, high volume manufacturing environment preferred.
• Previous experience working in the medical device, pharma, automotive, tech, food industries preferred.
• Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
• Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
• Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
