Job summary

EPH Controls is seeking a Junior Graphic Designer to join our marketing team. This hands-on role involves turning briefs into high-quality visual content across print, digital, web, social media, and exhibitions. You will collaborate with the Senior Graphic Designer and the Creative Manager, while working with product designers, engineers and developers.

This permanent, full-time on-site position in Cork offers opportunities to develop skills across a varied mix of creative and production work.

Qualifications

  • A portfolio of past work is required when applying for this role.
  • A relevant qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, Fine Arts or a related discipline.
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of After Effects, Premiere Pro, Figma or other digital design tools would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy, composition and visual communication.
  • Understanding of both print and digital media.
  • An interest in digital design, social media and emerging design trends.
  • Ability to interpret a brief, develop creative ideas and take responsibility for delivering assigned work to a high standard.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to multitask with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
  • An interest in using emerging AI and creative technologies to support ideation and design workflows.
  • Friendly, confident, enthusiastic and willing to learn, with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with designers, marketing colleagues, engineers, developers, product designers and other teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prepare brochures, catalogues, adverts, promotional materials, presentations and digital assets.
  • Develop graphics for websites, email campaigns and social media.
  • Assist with photography, image editing, retouching and image preparation.
  • Work with product designers, engineers, developers and other teams to turn technical information into clear and engaging visual communication.
  • Take feedback positively and develop designs through to final delivery.
  • Manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy, consistency and attention to detail.
  • Help maintain organised design files, templates and creative assets and following the procedures.
  • Prepare production-ready files for laser etching and engraving, ensuring artwork meets technical requirements.
  • Prepare artwork for die-cut lettering, vinyl graphics and other physical applications, including accurate sizing and file setup.
  • Assist with the application of die-cut lettering and graphics where required.
  • Assist in developing artwork and layouts for exhibition stands, event displays.

The Role

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and detail-focused Junior Graphic Designer to join our marketing team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys turning briefs and ideas into high-quality visual content across print, digital, web, social media, presentations, product marketing, exhibitions and physical brand applications. You will work closely with the Senior Graphic Designer and the Creative Manager, while collaborating with product designers, engineers, developers, the laser team and other colleagues. Key Responsibilities

You do not need to know everything, but you should be enthusiastic about design, interested in developing your skills and willing to take ownership of your work. You should be comfortable moving between creative design, artwork preparation and practical production tasks.

Working Hours & Flexibility

Our normal working hours provide a good work-life balance. Occasional flexibility may be required to support important project deadlines, campaign launches, exhibitions or other time-sensitive marketing activity. This is not expected routinely, and reasonable notice will be given wherever possible.
