Job description

Junior Electrical Engineer – Dublin, Ireland

Key Responsibilities
  • To support the engineering requirements through managing & liaising with key project stakeholders (client design team, main contractor, suppliers, sub‑contractors, etc).
  • Information reporting will be an essential activity to ensure activity targets/deadlines are met and to support the project team. An Engineering Task Log will be generated and managed by the Engineering Lead.
  • Familiarise with design/IFC specifications and drawings to fully understand the scope of the project works; oversee the coordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings by BIM personnel, ensuring spec compliance and schedule priority, generating/ managing RFIs.
  • Assist the installation package team to manage the quality needs on site, providing guidance to stay compliant with all relevant standards, codes and specifications, including all site activities associated with validation and handover to the client.
  • Assess sub‑contract and supplier tender returns for technical compliance with design intent specifications.
  • Familiarise with the project schedule and ensure engineering activities do not impact it (e.g., procurement).
  • Manage technical submittals and approvals.
  • Manage material procurement using the Engineering Materials Report (EMR), producing material take‑offs, identifying lead times and field need rates.
  • Ensure works are installed in accordance with project specifications and the QA plan (e.g., pre‑agreed benchmarking).
  • Manage sub‑contractors and ensure adequate information flow so works progress in line with the project schedule and weekly meeting logs.
  • Evaluate and promote the use of new engineering practices and processes to enhance project delivery time.
  • Prepare and agree project completion criteria and close‑out documents.
  • Prepare sub‑contract and supplier tender packages in conjunction with the Project QS.
  • Manage the construction work packs process from development, implementation and handover, involving on‑site activities to support the construction management team.
  • Manage BIM priorities: support the team to develop modular concepts, typical fabrication details and isometrics generation, release for construction, and validate materials/assets within the model. Control change management.
  • Attend project meetings or white‑board activity planning sessions as required by the project and team manager.
Essential Criteria
  • 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent organisational and project planning skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Proficiency in Navisworks and related engineering database systems.
  • Familiarity with Primavera planning software, CAD/BIM processes.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work on one's own initiative.
