Job summary

Cisco's Webex Engineering Group in Galway is seeking a software engineer with 4+ years of experience to join a hybrid team delivering features across microservices and AI-enabled enhancements.

You will contribute to architecture, DevOps practices, testing, and collaboration within an agile team, with mentorship and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 4+ years demonstrated experience in software development.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in an analytical subject (e.g. Computer Science, Electronics/Software Engineering).
• Strong coding aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to apply and lead a scientific approach to complex problems.
• Flexible and collaborative; communicates clearly in a diverse team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in an agile team to design, develop, test, and deliver new features and improvements.
• Help lead the operational side of a highly available microservice architecture (DevOps).
• Leverage AI technologies to accelerate delivery of customer features.
• Tackle varied problems with a data-driven focus on quality and continuous learning.
• Take ownership of tasks from new functionality to automated tests and issue investigations.

• Full Lifecycle Development: Technical leadership in an agile team to design, develop, test, and deliver new features and improvements to our products.
• DevOps & Microservices: Help lead the operational side of our highly available microservice architecture.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3rd Level Qualification: Bachelor's or higher degree in an analytical subject (e.g. Computer Science, Electronic/Software Engineering).
• Work experience: 4+ Years Demonstrated experience in software development.
• Coding Aptitude: Extensive architecture and programming experience and the willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
• Problem Solver: Ability to apply and lead a scientific approach and creative skills to complex problems.
• Adaptable & Collaborative: Flexible, thrives in diverse team environments, and communicates clearly and precisely.
• Quality Focus: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous learning and quality results.

Preferred Qualifications

Any of the following skills would be particularly advantageous, but we welcome applications without these:

• Knowledge of programming in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, C++, JavaScript
• Experience with data science / AI
• Familiarity with Git, DevOps, continuous integration, continuous delivery
