IBM Application Services and Middleware is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team with a focus on integration of Cloud Kubernetes and CI/CD technologies within the IBM/Red Hat Middleware product portfolio, such as IBM Enterprise build of Quarkus.

Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled professional to become the primary referent for Kubernetes and OpenShift ecosystem integration within the Quarkus framework. This role is pivotal in enhancing the developer experience and ensuring seamless container and orchestrator integration.

• Become the referent for the Kubernetes/OpenShift ecosystem integration within Quarkus
• Contribute to the developer experience of the quarkus command line interface functionalities related to containers / orchestrators integration
• Participate in the wider maintenance of Quarkus extensions related to Kubernetes such as Backstage, ArgoCD, Tekton, Helm and their integration with the Red Hat and/or IBM products
• Engage with users and customers to process their feedback

Required technical and professional expertise

• 3 years of experience in developing and contributing to open source communities
• 4 years of experience with Java programming
• 4 years of experience around the Cloud technology: Containers, Kubernetes
• Knowledge of CI / CD concepts, particularly GitHub actions / workflows
• Knowledge of Quarkus, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Docker/Podman
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a technology‑related discipline

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift is considered a plus
• Experience with IBM/Red Hat Application services and Middleware technology or equivalent
