Job summary

The Electricity Supply Board (ESB) invites graduates to join its IT Delivery and CIO teams in Dublin on the Graduate Development Programme. You will rotate across SAP Basis/Hub and SAP Functional tracks, helping design, build and support our SAP landscape while developing practical IT and business skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.1 Honours Degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Engineering or related field.

Our IT Graduate Development Programme is structured into six distinct career paths where you will be able to grow your experience, as well as develop the necessary skills to help you on your way to career success.

SAP Basis/Hub

The SAP Basis Team is the technical team responsible for the build, management, operation and support of ESB's SAP landscape

A career path in the SAP Basis/Hub in ESB would include

Performing ongoing maintenance, including upgrades, support packs and enhancement packs to keep systems aligned with SAP standards

Monitoring system performance and providing technical alerting and health monitoring across SAP environments.

Managing technical changes across SAP landscapes and supporting the stability of production systems

SAP Functional

A career path in the SAP Functional stream in ESB focuses on designing, building and supporting our SAP system solutions for our complex, multifaceted businesses.

The SAP footprint in ESB covers HR, Finance, Work Management and Utility Billing. Our SAP Functional roles operate as the gateway between understanding business requirements and their implementation on our IT systems. A combination of business and configuration skills is required in this customer- facing role which comprises of strategic project and support work.

Structured Rotations: – Our graduate programme is typically structured into targeted rotations aligned with career paths and capability development where you will build your IT and business knowledge through challenging assignments, a diverse range of business activities, and the potential to work on projects.

Learning & Development: – Central to our programme is your learning and development. Structured leadership development, training opportunities, innovation programmes. on-the-job learning and work-shadowing are complemented with personal development programmes and supports designed to help you grow professionally and personally.

Performance Orientated: – At the start of each of your rotations, you will agree with your Line Manager the goals of the assignment and put in place the steps to help achieve them. Ongoing one-to-one conversations and management reviews will ensure that you are constantly working towards achieving your professional status and position you for a career with ESB.

Supportive Working Environment: – In addition to your immediate support network of Line Manager, Middle Manager, Team Colleagues and Graduate Peers, you will also be assigned a Buddy and a Mentor.

Social Networking: – Over the last few years our Graduates have been involved in all sorts of Sports and Social activities. Anything from Tag Rugby, Cricket, Soccer and GAA to language classes, team building challenges, charity work and graduate social events. Our clubs, societies and networks are a great way to build your contacts and of course make new connections.

Location

This position will be based inESB Head Office, F27, 2 Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 4.

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

What We Look For?

You should have (or be working towards) a minimum 2.1 Honours Degree in IT, Computer Sciences, Business Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Finance or an equivalent course where IT was a component.

Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced team environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent analytical skills, combined with the ability to learn quickly.

  • Working towards a 2.1 grade
  • Completed a work placement during your undergraduate degree - either as part of the degree programme itself, or during a summer period
  • Currently completing, or have completed, an undergraduate degree or higher qualification in a field of Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
