Job summary

A local support organization in Portumna is seeking an Instructor's Aid to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities. No prior experience is required as accredited training will be provided. Ideal candidates will need to complete Garda vetting and must be receiving a Social Welfare Payment. This role involves supporting skills development and community engagement.

Ability West

Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

To register your interest you can contact an Employment Personal Advisor (EPA) in your local Intreo Centre.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

Job Description
Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.

  • Support people with an intellectual disability in training and the development of skills including horticulture, cookery, arts and crafts and woodwork.
  • Support students in becoming active participants in their local community.
  • Assist with class work and all work taking place in the Centre, including maintenance of infection prevention and control measures.

Training Provided:

  • Mandatory Ability West Internal Training.
  • Specific training tailored to meet your career needs.

Requirements:

  • Garda Vetting will be required for this role.
  • Must be in receipt of a Social Welfare Payment.
