Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking a Stroke Specialist Nurse to provide high quality assessment and care to Hyperacute Stroke patients. The role involves rapid assessment on arrival, supporting thrombectomy pathways, and coordinating admissions to the Raigmore Hospital stroke unit.

You will work with the Senior Charge Nurse and patient flow team and contribute to regional stroke governance and audits. The successful candidate will lead learning opportunities for nursing staff, ensure STARS/STAT/STAT+

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills to liaise with patients, relatives and MDT.

Responsibilities

• Rapid assessment of patients referred with possible stroke.
• Coordinate direct admissions to the stroke unit in Raigmore Hospital in collaboration with nursing leadership and patient flow team.
• Provide outreach to optimise stroke care across areas.
• Contribute to Scottish Stroke Care Standards and audits.
• Ensure staff caring for stroke patients complete mandatory STARS, STAT and STAT+ training.
