Overview
ATG are working with a leading engineering consultancy in Ireland, providing innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions across the water, environment, and civil sectors. They are seeking a Hydraulic Structures Engineer to join an expanding water and flood risk management team in Dublin.
Responsibilities
- Design and assessment of hydraulic structures (bridges, culverts, outfalls, sluices, headwalls, spillways, etc.)
- Lead and contribute to the production of drawings, specifications, reports, and tender documents
- Undertake structural assessments in accordance with Eurocodes and other relevant standards
- Support hydrological and hydraulic modelling tasks to inform structural design
- Carry out site inspections and condition surveys
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and contractors
- Provide technical input to multi-disciplinary project teams
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
Requirements
- Bachelor\'s or Master’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience in the design and delivery of hydraulic structures
- Chartered or working towards Chartership (e.g., with Engineers Ireland or ICE)
- Strong knowledge of relevant design codes (Eurocodes, CIRIA, NRA/Transport Infrastructure Ireland standards, OPW guidelines)
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., Robot, MIDAS, STAAD, etc.)
- Excellent report writing, communication, and team-working skills
- Right to work in Ireland
- Experience with flood risk management and drainage projects
- Familiarity with hydraulic modelling tools (HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, InfoWorks ICM)
- Experience working with public sector clients such as OPW, Irish Water, or local authorities
- Project management or client-facing experience
