Job summary

OBW Technologies is seeking a motivated HPM Shift Engineer to join our Leixlip site on a structured shift pattern. You will maintain and support critical gas detection and life safety systems within a state-of-the-art semiconductor campus, performing preventative maintenance, fault-finding, inspections and documentation to high safety standards.

The role requires engineering qualifications, strong troubleshooting abilities, and experience in an industrial or highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience maintaining fixed gas detection and life safety systems.
  • Industrial/pharmaceutical/manufacturing environment experience desired.
  • CMMS experience, especially Maximo.
  • Hazardous area qualifications (COMPEX/EEHA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on HPM and gas detection systems.
  • Troubleshoot faults and respond to alarms with minimal operational impact.
  • Carry out inspections, testing, calibrations, and system audits.
  • Document maintenance activities in site CMMS and reports.
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability projects.
  • Prepare service reports, RAMS, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with client representatives, contractors, and OBW colleagues.
  • Participate in shift handovers and safety/quality meetings.
  • Assist commissioning, upgrades, and project-related activities.

OBW Technologies is seeking a motivated and technically capable HPM Shift Engineer to join our growing team based at a leading semiconductor manufacturing campus in Leixlip. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high-tech environment, supporting critical Hazardous Process Monitoring (HPM) and Life Safety Systems that protect people, assets and operations.

The role supports the maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of fixed gas detection and associated safety systems across a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Working as part of a shift team, you will support HPM systems and Life Safety infrastructure, carrying out preventative maintenance, fault finding, system inspections, alarm response, documentation management, and ensuring compliance with site safety and quality standards.

About the Role

As an HPM Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting critical gas detection and monitoring systems across a major advanced manufacturing site. Working within a structured shift environment, you will ensure all preventative and corrective maintenance activities are completed to the highest standards while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on HPM and gas detection systems.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify faults efficiently to minimise operational impact.
  • Respond to system alarms, incidents, and equipment failures.
  • Carry out routine inspections, testing, calibrations, and system audits.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are accurately documented using site maintenance management systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and reliability projects.
  • Prepare and complete service reports, permits, RAMS, and technical documentation.
  • Liaise professionally with client representatives, contractors, and OBW colleagues.
  • Participate in shift handovers and operational meetings.
  • Maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental compliance.
  • Support commissioning, upgrades, and project-related activities as required.
What We're Looking For
  • Qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working in an industrial, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or process environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a shift-based environment.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Experience with fixed gas detection systems.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience using CMMS systems such as Maximo.
  • Instrumentation or controls experience.
  • COMPEX, EEHA, or hazardous area qualifications.
  • Previous experience supporting Life Safety Systems.
Shift Pattern

This role operates on a structured rotating shift pattern designed to provide a strong work-life balance while supporting a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

  • 7 x 12-hour shifts per fortnight, for example:

Week 1: 3 shifts

Week 2: 4 shifts

  • Day shift hours: 07:00-19:15
  • Night shifts hours: 19:00-07:15
  • The majority of shifts are days, with employees typically rotating onto nights approximately every sixth week.
  • Shift schedules are routine and provided well in advance to support planning and work-life balance.
