Job Description

Our client, Plazamont Limited t/a Dan Morrissey and Company, based in Bennekerry, Co. Carlow, is currently seeking HGV Mechanics for immediate start at their facilities in Co. Carlow, Co. Kildare & Co. Wicklow.

Qualifications: 2-3 years’ HGV mechanic experience required. Mechanic Certification preferred but not essential. No minimum academic requirements. Further training will be provided on-the-job as required.

General Duties / Responsibilities / Experience:

• Fit, install, maintain, service and repair engines and the mechanical and related equipment of heavy goods vehicles.
• Detect and diagnose faults in engines and parts.
• Fit, examine, test and service heavy goods vehicles and engines.
• Replace engine components or complete engines.
• Fit, examine, adjust, dismantle, rebuild and replace defective parts of HGVs.
• Essential knowledge includes vehicle diagnostics, repairing and diagnosing ABS/EBS brake systems.
• Essential skills include diagnosis and repair of trucks, trailers and vans.
• Experience in installing and adjusting motors, brakes and steering.
• Experience in installing, adjusting and servicing mechatronics components of HGVs.
• Knowledge and experience of performing scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes and engine tune‑ups, to achieve smooth running of vehicles and compliance with pollution regulations.
• Ability to reassemble engines and parts after repairs.
• A mechanic qualification or certificate is a bonus but is not mandatory.
• 2-3 years’ relevant experience as a HGV Mechanic is required.

Annual remuneration: €34,000.00; Pay rate €16.77 per hour
