Job Description

Our client, Wilton Scrap Metals Limited, based in Co. Kildare, is currently seeking HGV Mechanics for immediate start at their facility in Naas, Co. Kildare.

Responsibilities

• Fit, install, maintain, service and repair engines and the mechanical and related equipment of heavy goods vehicles.
• Detect and diagnose faults in engines and parts.
• Fit, examine, test and service heavy goods vehicles and engines.
• Replace engine components or complete engines.
• Fit, examine, adjust, dismantle, rebuild and replace defective parts of HGVs.
• Use vehicle diagnostics, and repair & diagnose ABS/EBS brake systems.
• Diagnose and repair trucks, trailers and vans.
• Install and adjust motors, brakes and steering.
• Install, adjust and service mechatronics components of HGVs.
• Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes and engine tune‑ups to ensure smooth running of vehicles and compliance with pollution regulations.
• Reassemble engines and parts after repairs.

Qualifications

• 2‑3 years’ HGV mechanic experience required.
• Mechanic certification preferred but not essential.
• Experience in a waste/recycling environment is a plus.
• Ability to install, adjust, and service mechanical, electrical, and mechatronic components.
• Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, ABS/EBS systems, and compliance with environmental regulations.

Compensation

Annual remuneration: €36,605.00 (approx. €18.05 per hour). 39 hours per week.
