Job Description

Our client, Virginia Transport Limited, based in Virginia, Co. Cavan, is currently seeking HGV Mechanics for immediate start at their facility in Co. Cavan.

Qualifications
  • 2-3 years’ HGV mechanic experience required.
  • Mechanic Certification preferred but not essential.
  • There are no minimum academic requirements.
  • Further training will be provided on-the-job as required.
Responsibilities
  • To fit, install, maintain, service and repair engines and the mechanical and related equipment of heavy goods vehicles.
  • To detect and diagnose faults in engines and parts.
  • To fit, examine, test and service heavy goods vehicles and engines.
  • To replace engine components or complete engines.
  • To fit, examine, adjust, dismantle, rebuild and replace defective parts of HGVs.
  • Essential knowledge includes vehicle diagnostics, and repairing & diagnosing ABS/EBS brake systems.
  • Essential skills include diagnosis and repair of trucks, trailers and vans.
  • The candidate must have experience in installing and adjusting motors, brakes and steering.
  • The candidate must have experience in installing, adjusting and servicing mechatronics components of HGVs.
  • The candidate must have knowledge and experience of performing scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes and engine tune-ups, to achieve smooth running of vehicles and compliance with pollution regulations.
  • The candidate must be able to reassemble engines and parts after repairs.
  • A mechanic qualification or certificate is a bonus but is not mandatory.
  • 2-3 years’ of relevant experience as a HGV Mechanic is required.
Compensation

Annual remuneration: €34,000.00; Pay rate €16.77 per hour
