Job summary

A transportation company is seeking experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) drivers to collect, transport, and deliver goods across various locations in Ireland. Applicants must hold an Irish CE or C1E driving license and be knowledgeable about vehicle mechanics and road traffic laws. The role involves checking the vehicle's condition, managing delivery schedules, and ensuring cargo is safely loaded and unloaded.

Responsibilities

  • Checks tyres, brakes, lights, oil, water and fuel levels.
  • Drives vehicle from depot to loading/unloading point.
  • Agrees delivery schedule and route with transport management.
  • Assists with loading/unloading and ensures safety.
  • Drives vehicle to destination in accordance with schedule.
  • Maintains records of journey times and mileage.
  • Undertakes minor repairs and notifies supervisor.

Job Description

Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) drivers collect, transport and deliver goods in rigid vehicles, articulated lorries and lorries pulling trailers.

Entry requirements of this job:

  • Irish CE or C1E driving licence;
  • That the driver holds a driving licence that is deemed equivalent to an Irish CE or C1E driving licence, through a driving licence exchange agreement between the Road Safety Authority (RSA) and the appropriate regulatory authority in another jurisdiction;

Tasks required by this job include:

  • checks tyres, brakes, lights, oil, water and fuel levels and general condition of the vehicle;
  • drives vehicle from depot to loading/unloading point;
  • agrees delivery schedule and route with transport management;
  • assists with loading/unloading and ensures that load is evenly distributed and safely secured;
  • drives vehicle to destination in accordance with schedule;
  • maintains records of journey times, mileage and hours worked;
  • undertakes minor repairs and notifies supervisor of any mechanical faults.
