Job summary

Nuvo Healthcare Recruitment is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join a day service for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Nenagh. This is an on-site, part-time role offering 3 days per week with flexible hours 9:30am–4:30pm, within a supportive team.

You will provide person-centred support, assist with daily activities and mobility, and participate in swimming sessions as required. QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or Nursing Studies is essential, with a full Irish driving license.

Qualifications

• Minimum QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare Support or Nursing Studies (8 modules)
• Full, valid Irish manual driver's licence (essential)
• Willingness to participate in swimming activities with service users
• Experience with intellectual disabilities is an advantage
• Garda vetting or willingness to undergo vetting

About the Role

Nuvo Healthcare Recruitment is currently recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join one of our client sites on an ongoing basis, supporting a day service for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Nenagh. This is a fantastic opportunity for a caring, reliable, and active person to make a real difference in a rewarding, community‑based setting.

As a member of the HSE Framework, Nuvo Healthcare Recruitment offers HSE pay rates for this role. This position offers consistent, indefinite shifts (3 days per week) with the flexibility to suit your schedule.

Please note: this is an in‑person role based on‑site in Nenagh; remote or hybrid working is not available.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide person‑centred support to service users with intellectual disabilities in a day service setting
• Support and accompany service users during swimming sessions — you must be willing to get into the water with the service user, as swimming is a regular part of this role (please note: you do not need to be a strong or confident swimmer, just comfortable being in the water alongside the service user)
• Assist with daily activities, personal care, and mobility as needed
• Support safe moving and handling of service users
• Promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing at all times
• Work collaboratively with the wider care team

Requirements

• Minimum qualification: QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare Support or Nursing Studies, with all 8 modules passed (essential — candidates without this full major award will not be considered)
• Full, valid Irish manual driver's licence (essential)
• Willingness to get into the water and participate in swimming activities with service users (strong swimming ability not required)
• Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is an advantage
• Garda vetting (or willingness to undergo vetting)
