Job summary

Irish Wheelchair Association in Donegal is hiring part-time Healthcare Assistants (Personal Assistants) to support members in their homes and communities. The role covers Carndonagh and surrounding areas with morning, lunch, evening, and weekend shifts.

You’ll enable independence through personal care, domestic and social support, and travel companionship. A valid driver’s licence and QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support are essential, plus using your own smartphone for visit check-ins.

Qualifications

• QQI level 5 (Major Award) in Healthcare Support or similar qualification in Social Care is essential
• Full clean drivers' licence is essential
• Kind and Caring attitude
• Use of your own smart phone to check in and out of your visits is essential

Responsibilities

• Enable members to achieve maximum independence in daily living
• Assist with personal care, domestic tasks, social/educational support, travel and companionship
• Work in members' homes and communities, providing care and assistance as needed
• Coordinate with home support staff and service coordinators

The areas to be covered are:

Carndonagh & Surrouning Areas

The positions on offer are part-time (25 hours per week Fixed Term Contract)

Required Availability:

Morning, lunchtime, evening and bed time calls during the weekend and every second weekend

Overall, Purpose of Job

The purpose of the role is to enable our members to achieve maximum independence in all aspects of daily living, by assisting in one or more of the following areas: personal care, domestic assistance, social and educational assistance, travel and companionship.

This role takes place in the homes and communities of our members.

Liaison

There are several key relationships, which should be fostered and developed for the successful implementation of this role. Liaise and coordinate with other identified home support staff as required and maintain close communication with the Assisted Living Service Coordinator and Scheduling staff.

Training and Qualifications, required

What we Offer

• Salary range for this position is €16.21- €18.03 per hour depending on experience
• Before 8am and after 8pm - from €20.26 to €22.54 per hour
• Sunday - from €24.32 to €27.05 per hour
• Public Holidays - from €32.42 to €36.06 per hour
• Yearly incremental salary scale (7 point scale)
