Job Description

At HomeCarer Trusted Independent Living we currently have multiple vacancies for the role of Healthcare Assistant. Healthcare Assistants work with young people, children, infants, and disabled or terminally ill patients. In this job, you are expected to complete various tasks, including feeding and washing patients. Our duties may include:

  • Helping patients get up and dressed for the day.
  • Helping patients with their personal care needs.
  • Making beds.
  • Helping patients go to the bathroom.
  • Monitoring their conditions.
  • Preparing meals.
  • Serving meals and helping to feed patients.
  • Assisting patients when they want to move around.
  • Helping patients perform exercises.
  • Providing medication prompts.
  • Performing detailed record keeping.

You must be kind, reliable and a good communicator. You will need to have previous paid experience working as a Healthcare Assistant. You will also need to be QQI Level 5 qualified in Healthcare OR an acceptable equivalent qualification OR working towards qualification or willing to work towards it in your own time. A background and/or qualification in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy or applied therapies or allied healthcare would be a distinct advantage.

Healthcare Assistants can be scheduled for work anytime between 8am and 10pm. You will need to be flexible in your hours and you will receive your schedule weekly in advance for 39 hours per week. Shifts will be a minimum of 4 hours but usually much longer. You would be employed full time with us at a rate of pay for 39 hours per week of €30,000 per annum.
