About The Organisation

The Irish Environmental Network (IEN), founded in 2001, is a leading umbrella organization representing environmental NGO's across the Republic of Ireland. Our mission is to empower our members to protect and enhance the environment through collaboration, funding, and advocacy. We focus on a broad range of issues including conservation, sustainable living, and renewable energy. Join us in promoting environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

The Job

As the Head of Finance and Operations, you will play a pivotal role in managing IEN's operations, finance, office management, HR, and governance. This senior position combines strategic leadership with hands‑on financial planning and operational oversight. You will lead a small team, impacting the organization and its network significantly.

  • Finance:
    • Oversee financial management including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
    • Lead financial planning and budgeting processes.
    • Support decision‑making with financial analysis and reporting.
    • Assist with funding proposals and ensure timely reporting to funders.
    • Prepare and review budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial plans.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices.
  • Leadership and Strategy:
    • Collaborate with the CEO and Board to shape strategic plans.
    • Represent IEN externally with partners and funders.
    • Provide strategic guidance to the CEO and Board.
    • Support development of new projects and funding models.
  • Governance and Compliance:
    • Ensure legal compliance in all activities.
    • Serve as Secretary to the Finance Sub‑Committee.
    • Organize the Annual General Meeting.
    • Ensure compliance with the Governance Compliance Code.
    • Liaise with auditors for annual audits.
  • Operations:
    • Assist CEO in providing a safe working environment.
    • Oversee office administration, HR functions, IT, and logistics.
    • Manage relationships with suppliers and landlords.
  • Human Resources:
    • Fulfill direct line management duties.
    • Ensure staff awareness of health, safety, and well‑being policies.
    • Support CEO in workplan delivery, monitoring, and evaluation.
The Person

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management and operations, strong strategic guidance skills, and knowledge of financial regulations. Excellent communication and leadership abilities are essential.
