Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Systems Engineer on a defined‑term (23months) basis to join our Clonmel team.

Job Purpose:

As a Graduate Engineer at Boston Scientific, you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues, contribute to innovative medical technologies and build hands‑on experience in a collaborative environment.

As a Graduate Systems Engineer, you will support the development of complex active implantable medical devices while building your knowledge of systems engineering. Working with experienced Systems Engineers and cross‑functional teams, you will contribute to requirements development and traceability, system architecture and integration, risk management, verification and validation, and product development activities. You will learn how user and stakeholder needs are translated into safe, reliable and compliant product solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development and maintenance of user needs, system requirements and subsystem requirements under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Assist with maintaining requirements traceability between user needs, design outputs, verification and validation activities.
• Participate in system architecture, interface and integration discussions, building an understanding of how system elements work together.
• Support risk management activities, including hazard analysis and risk assessments, in accordance with medical device development processes.
• Assist with planning, preparation and execution of system‑level verification and validation activities.
• Support system characterisation, integration and testing activities, including documenting results and helping investigate technical issues.
• Help prepare and maintain clear, accurate systems engineering documentation and design records.
• Participate in cross‑functional design reviews and technical discussions, contributing analysis and ideas with support from the wider team.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory colleagues to support product development activities.
• Learn and apply systems engineering methodologies, medical device design controls and product development processes as your experience develops.

Education & Experience:

• Hons Bachelor Degree (Level 8) in Systems, Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering or a related discipline is essential.
• Graduated within the past two years or currently in the final year of university.
• Relevant work experience or completion of a co‑op program.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the initiative to contribute in a collaborative environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with an interest in understanding how complex systems work.
• Understanding of engineering fundamentals and an interest in developing systems thinking concepts.
• Strong systems aptitude and an interest in developing technical skills.
• Enthusiastic, proactive approach to learning and problem‑solving.
• Interest in medical technology, product development, systems engineering or continuous improvement.
