Job summary

Global Professional Consultants in Cork seeks a Geotechnical Engineer with 2–5 years’ experience to join our specialist team. You will work on ground improvement and foundation projects across the Irish construction market, supported by an experienced technical group and ample opportunities to develop your career.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years’ post-graduate experience in a geotechnical engineering role.
  • Understanding of geotechnical design principles including ground improvement and foundation behaviour.
  • Familiarity with Eurocode 7 and geotechnical design standards.
  • Good time management, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of geotechnical design projects, including ground improvement and foundation design.
  • Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals under senior guidance.
  • Contribute to ground investigation planning, procurement and interpretation of results.
  • Carry out geotechnical calculations and prepare reports and design drawings.
  • Liaise with site staff, contractors and clients throughout project delivery.
  • Assist in the day-to-day running of projects and Cork office operations.

Job description

Geotechnical Engineer with 2–5 years’ experience required to join a specialist geotechnical contractor with a significant presence in Cork. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Geotechnical Engineer to develop their career within a growing team, working on ground improvement and foundation projects across the Irish construction market. The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced technical team and will gain exposure to a wide variety of geotechnical project types.

Duties:
  • Assist in the delivery of geotechnical design projects, including ground improvement, foundation design, retaining structures and slope stability assessments.
  • Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for clients under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Contribute to ground investigation planning, procurement and interpretation of results.
  • Carry out geotechnical calculations and prepare technical reports and design drawings.
  • Liaise with site staff, contractors and clients throughout project delivery.
  • Assist in the day-to-day running of projects and contribute to the smooth operation of the Cork office.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology or equivalent (BEng, MEng or MSc).
  • 2–5 years’ post-graduate experience in a geotechnical engineering role within a consultancy or contractor environment.
  • Understanding of geotechnical design principles, including ground improvement, foundation behaviour, retaining structures and slope stability.
  • Familiarity with Eurocode 7 and geotechnical design standards.
  • Good time management, communication and organisational skills.
