Job summary

Personio seeks a General Ledger Accountant (m/f/d) – Accounts Payable on the Core Accounting team in a hybrid role based in Dublin or Munich. You will own AP and GL tasks, payroll accruals, intercompany accounting, and support audits, driving automation and cross-functional collaboration from day one.

You will bring a professional accounting qualification and 3+ years in a SaaS/tech setting, with strong Excel skills and knowledge of local regs and EMEA VAT. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, Bilanzbuchhalter, StB, or equivalent).
• ≥3 years of progressive accounting experience in multi-entity, high-growth SaaS/tech environment.
• Knowledge of local accounting regulations and EMEA VAT.
• Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
• Fluent in English (German/Spanish a plus).
• Familiarity with Workday financials is an advantage.
• Experience with automation platforms (Floqast/Blackline) and AI tools to streamline AP processes.
• Proactive, self-starting mindset; comfortable with evolving processes.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication.
• Detail-oriented, structured, ownership-driven, in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end accounts payable and general ledger tasks, including month-end and year-end closings per local GAAP and GL reconciliations.
• Own payroll accounting end-to-end and reconcile payroll-related accruals with Payroll, RevOps, Rewards, and Treasury.
• Own intercompany accounting, including postings, settlements, and monthly close reconciliations.
• Support the tax team on CIT filings and audits; liaise with tax consultants and auditors.
• Act as the main contact for assigned GL accounts and drive improvements with cross-functional partners.
• Take on ad-hoc projects and back-up other accounting areas when needed.
• Support international and group audit topics and coordinate statutory audits.

Accounts Payable function is evolving fast, and as an General Ledger Accountant (m/f/d) – Accounts Payable on the Core Accounting team, you'll be right at the center of that transformation. From driving automation to partnering with cross-functional teams on high-impact projects, you'll help build and transform the cross-regional accounting function at Personio. This is a hybrid role covering a wide range of topics: you'll take on ownership across a range of accounting areas from day one, with scope evolving as the Core Accounting team continues to scale.
This role requires 3 days per week in the office and is based in Dublin or Munich.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

• Own end-to-end accounts payable and general ledger tasks - month-end and year-end closings per local GAAP, and GL/sub-ledger reconciliations — ensuring all deadlines are met
• Own payroll accounting end-to-end - reconciling payroll payments against source documentation, and payroll-related accruals (commission, bonus, lump sum) — partnering with Payroll, RevOps, Rewards, and Treasury to ensure accurate, compliant, well-reconciled payroll costs
• Own intercompany accounting end-to-end, - including monthly postings, settlements, international funding requirements, and month-end close reconciliations
• Support the tax team on CIT filings and audits, and act as the main point of contact for tax consultants and external auditors on these topics.
• Act as the main point of contact for topics within your responsibility — reviewing assigned GL accounts, independently driving improvements and working with cross functional partners on cross functional initiatives
• Take on ad-hoc projects and topics as required and providing back-up support across other accounting areas when needed
• Heavily support International and Group audit topics, holding full responsibility for these areas in the group audit and supporting the coordination of the full statutory international audit — preparing local files, managing timelines, and reviewing financial statements prior to sign-off with management.

Role Requirements: What you'll need to succeed

• Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK), Steuerberater (StB), or equivalent)
• You have minimum of 3 years of progressive professional experience in accounting in multi entity, high growth Saas/tech environment
• You have knowledge of local accounting regulations as well as knowledge of EMEA VAT
• Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
• You are fluent in English (Business proficiency in German or Spanish is a plus)
• Familiarity with Workday financials would be considered an advantage
• Experience in leveraging modern automation platforms (eg Floqast or Blackline) and generative AI tools to streamline and automate accounts payable processes.
• Proactive, self-starting mindset — comfortable in evolving/undefined processes and stepping outside comfort zone
• Strong communicator who collaborates well cross-functionally
• Detail-oriented, structured, and takes ownership — thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• AI Fluency: You have hands-on experience using AI to improve your workflow, and the sound judgment to know exactly when to rely on it and when to step in yourself.
