Job summary

Red Chair Medical in Ireland is seeking an experienced General Consultant Psychiatrist to join our psychiatric services team. The role spans inpatient management to community-based recovery programs, providing clinical leadership across service models.

You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, drive service development, and deliver comprehensive assessment and treatment for a diverse patient group, including older adults and those requiring rehabilitation.

Qualifications

• Native or full professional English language proficiency with strong clinical communication skills.
• Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC), or actively in the process of securing Specialist Registration.
• Post-graduate medical degree / specialist qualifications in General Adult Psychiatry (e.g., MRCPsych or equivalent).
• Valid, unrestricted right to work in Ireland (EU/EEA/UK citizenship, Stamp 4, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Oversee inpatient units alongside integrated community mental health teams.
• Provide rehabilitation, recovery, and long-stay psychiatric care.
• Deliver psychiatry of later life assessments and treatment for older adults.
• Consult on psychiatric care within general medical and surgical hospital settings.

Depending on the specific post and clinical assignment, duties include:

• Inpatient & Community Care: Oversee acute inpatient units alongside integrated community mental health teams.
• Rehabilitation & Long-Stay Services: Provide specialized assessment and ongoing care for Rehabilitation, Recovery, and long-stay psychiatric patients.
• Psychiatry of Later Life (OLD): Deliver tailored mental health assessment and treatment for older adults.
• Liaison Psychiatry: Consult on psychiatric care within general medical and surgical hospital settings.
• Outpatient & Day Services: Lead outpatient clinics and manage community day treatment programs.
• Residential Care Management: Direct multidisciplinary care across high-support and low-support community residential facilities.

Candidate Requirements

• Medical Registration: Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC), or actively in the process of securing Specialist Registration.
• Qualifications: Relevant post-graduate medical degree / specialist qualifications in General Adult Psychiatry (e.g., MRCPsych or equivalent).
• Communication: Native or full professional English language proficiency with strong clinical communication skills.
• Work Authorization: Valid, unrestricted right to work in Ireland (e.g., EU/EEA/UK citizenship, Stamp 4, or existing valid work authorization).
