Job summary

University of Galway invites applications for a full-time funded PhD scholarship affiliated with ICHEC and the School of Computer Science. The project focuses on climate datasets, bias correction, and high-end computing to advance climate and biodiversity research.

You will work with regional climate models and large-scale data processing under supervision by Dr. Paul Nolan, starting Autumn/Winter 2026. The stipend is €25,000 per annum and fees are fully covered.

Qualifications

• Strong MSc/MA in CS, physics, math, environmental/climate science.
• Ambitious, creative, and motivated to lead climate solutions using computation.
• Programming, ML, and large-scale data processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support research across the Co-Centre by providing climate datasets and derived products.
• Evaluate and apply bias-correction techniques for regional climate projections.
