Financial Controller - Leading Dublin Hotel
The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded hotel in Dublin, recognised as a leading operator within the local hospitality market. They are seeking to appoint a commercially minded, hands‑on Financial Controller to take ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function and work closely with senior management to support operational performance and continued growth.

This role offers the opportunity to be closely involved in the running of the hotel, combining strong financial control with practical, operational insight. It will suit a qualified accountant who enjoys being embedded in the business, partnering with management teams, and influencing performance through clear, actionable financial information.

Role Overview
  • Take ownership of the hotel's day‑to‑day finance function, including financial controls, processes, and reporting.

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, KPIs, and performance analysis.

  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships, supporting short‑and medium‑term financial planning.

  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with hotel management.

  • Work closely with operational teams to support cost control, margin management, and profitability across rooms, food and beverage, and labour.

  • Oversee stock control, purchasing processes, and supplier relationships.

  • Ensure payroll processes and labour cost reporting are accurate and timely.

  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and finance providers as required.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory obligations, and internal policies.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Management and development of the on‑site finance team

  • Continuous improvement of systems, controls, and processes

  • Risk management and internal financial controls

  • Support of capital expenditure and refurbishment projects

  • Provision of clear financial insight to support operational decision‑making

Candidate Profile
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).

  • Several years' post‑qualification experience in a hands‑on financial controller or senior finance role.

  • Experience within hotels, hospitality, leisure, or a similarly operational, multi‑department environment.

  • Strong commercial awareness and a practical, problem‑solving mindset.

  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with non‑finance colleagues.

  • Strong Excel and systems skills; experience with hotel finance systems such as Sage or Opera is advantageous.

  • Comfortable being based primarily on site in Dublin within a fast‑paced operational environment.
