Job description

The Company

Echelon Data Centres was established in 2017 by the main principal of Aldgate Developments, a leading commercial property developer and owner of major commercial office buildings in Central London and Dublin. The objective was developing, operating, and owning a network of large-scale, responsibly designed, sustainably powered data centre campuses across the world to meet the rapidly expanding global demand for hyperscale data processing and storage solutions.

Echelon currently has seven data centre facilities either operational or in development across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Spain with a combined capacity of approximately 1.25GW. The recent acquisition of a prime 37-acre site in Italy, marks the next step of Echelon’s expansion into Continental Europe.

We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our function in our Dublin office by recruiting an experienced Finance Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to further their career in a highly motivated and inspirational environment.

The Role

The Finance Manager will play a key role within Echelon’s finance function, providing dedicated finance support across major development projects, with a particular focus on project financial accounting, cost reporting, cashflow forecasting, budget tracking, financial controls and commercial analysis. Working closely with the Financial Controller, Finance Director, CFO, project teams and wider business stakeholders, the successful candidate will help embed robust financial oversight into project delivery and decision-making, improve visibility of committed and forecast spend, strengthen project-level reporting and governance, and provide the additional finance capacity required to support Echelon as it continues to scale.

Responsibilities
  • Support month-end close activities, including project-related accruals, cost reviews, reconciliations and reporting inputs.
  • Review and interrogate project cost reports, including actual spend, committed costs, forecast spend and variances to budget.
  • Support cashflow forecasting by tracking expected supplier payments, committed expenditure and future project funding requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes for development projects, working with project teams to validate assumptions and update forecasts.
  • Monitor purchase orders, approvals and committed spend to ensure alignment with approved budgets, delegated authority limits and finance controls.
  • Provide finance support to project managers and stakeholders, helping translate project activity into clear financial reporting and commercial insight.
  • Identify risks, movements and trends in project spend, escalating key matters to the Financial Controller, Finance Director or CFO as appropriate.
  • Support the continued improvement of finance systems, reporting templates, workflows, controls and project finance processes.
  • Contribute to management reporting packs, board reporting inputs and ad hoc analysis as required.
Accordingly, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and competencies:
  • Qualified accountant with strong management accounting, reporting and controls experience.
  • Strong project finance, cost reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information, challenge assumptions and provide clear commercial insight.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a structured and organised approach to reporting, reconciliations, approvals and follow-up.
  • Confident communicator who can work effectively with finance colleagues, project teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded, proactive and comfortable operating in a fast-moving, project-led environment.
  • Strong systems capability, including Excel and finance/reporting systems, with an appetite for process improvement and workflow automation. Experience in Oracle / NetSuite a plus.
  • High standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
