This is a varied role that will combine strategic financial analysis and business partnering with hands‑on involvement in key financial and commercial processes. You will also play an important role in ensuring compliance with Stantec's accounting policies, including IFRS 15 and revenue recognition requirements.

The Role

As Commercial Finance Business Partner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the Ireland Financial Controller, Finance team and operational business to support financial performance management, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Developing and enhancing management reporting and financial analysis to provide greater visibility of key business performance indicators, including growth, profitability and cash generation.
  • Preparing financial performance commentaries, variance analysis and reporting, identifying trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Supporting monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and appropriate financial controls.
  • Coordinating and consolidating detailed forecasts across business lines, supporting wider Group budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Supporting the management of the Ireland cost base and identifying opportunities for improved cost efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance with Stantec's financial policies, risk and control framework, including SOX requirements and IFRS 15 revenue recognition policies.
  • Assisting with monthly payment applications and subsequent client invoicing, working closely with the Project Accountant.
  • Supporting the monthly project review process, analysing project financial performance and working with Project Managers to identify challenges and develop solutions.
  • Providing commercial and financial guidance to Project Managers and operational teams.
  • Supporting supplier invoice processing, payment queries and accounts receivable collections.
  • Assisting with internal and external audit requirements as necessary.
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of key client contractual agreements and their financial implications.
  • Championing continuous improvement across commercial finance processes, working collaboratively with our Integrated Global Working team in India to improve efficiency, consistency and effectiveness.
About You

We are looking for an operationally and commercially minded qualified accountant with approximately 3–5 years' relevant experience, ideally within a professional services or consultancy environment.

You will be comfortable operating at both a strategic and operational level, combining strong financial and analytical capabilities with a hands‑on approach to improving processes and supporting the wider business.

You will ideally have:

  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • 3–5 years' relevant post‑qualification or industry experience in a similar commercial finance or business partnering role.
  • Experience working within a large, complex organisation, ideally in a professional services environment.
  • A strong understanding of IFRS, particularly IFRS 15 and revenue recognition.
  • Experience improving financial controls, processes and procedures.
  • Experience working with major ERP systems; Oracle experience would be advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex financial information clearly.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong general IT capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider, collaborative team.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with a willingness to embrace change and learn new systems and processes.
