Here at Teamworx we are delighted to be recruiting for a ChildrensWear Buyer Role based in Portlaoise (Maternity Cover)

Our client is seeking a candidate with experience in the buying industry who has a strong drive and a passion for fashion. You will be joining a very popular and successful Irish family business, whose goal is to provide quality products, excellent service and expert knowledge.

You will be reporting to the Head of Buying

  • Deliver agreed commercial targets in turnover, margin and profit growth
  • Be the voice for their targeted customer
  • In charge of deliveries / merchandising guidance and promotional concepts within your own area
  • Negotiate and agree trading terms with suppliers
Key Responsibilities
Market Research and Trend Analysis

Stay updated with the latest trends in children's fashion and consumer preferences. Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to anticipate product needs. Develop and execute seasonal merchandise plans that align with the department store's overall strategy.

Product Mix and Pricing

Determine the product mix, including categories, styles, and price points, to meet sales targets.

Supplier Relations and Negotiations

Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, designers, and manufacturers. Negotiate terms, prices, delivery schedules, and exclusive deals to secure the best products and prices.

Inventory Management

Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock availability to meet customer demand without overstocking. Implement inventory control measures to minimize markdowns and stockouts.

Product Selection and Purchasing

Select and purchase a variety of children's clothing and accessories that meet quality and safety standards. Evaluate samples and approve final products for purchase orders.

Sales Analysis and Performance Monitoring

Analyze sales data and performance metrics to assess the success of merchandise selections. Adjust purchasing strategies based on sales performance and customer feedback.

Budget Management

Manage the buying budget to maximize profitability while adhering to financial constraints. Forecast sales and allocate budget accordingly across different product lines.

Vendor Compliance and Quality Assurance

Ensure all products meet the store's quality standards and comply with relevant safety regulations. Conduct regular assessments of vendors to ensure compliance with contractual terms and ethical sourcing policies.

Collaborate with Other Departments

Work closely with the marketing team to develop promotional strategies for children's wear. Coordinate with the visual merchandising team to create appealing in-store and online displays.

Customer Focus

Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction, understanding their needs and preferences. Respond to customer inquiries and feedback related to children's wear products.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities for product innovation and differentiation in the children's wear category. Stay informed about new materials, manufacturing processes, and sustainable practices.

These responsibilities ensure that the Children's Wear Buyer plays a crucial role in driving sales and profitability while offering customers a desirable and high-quality selection of children's clothing.
