Job summary

Qualifications

Facilities Technical Manager - Ireland
Position Overview
  • Operational management, maintenance, and optimization of building systems across Irish portfolio
  • Hands-on technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems required
  • Focus on optimal performance, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance
Key Responsibilities
  • Systems Management & Maintenance
    • Oversee operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and building automation systems
    • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance scheduling
    • Coordinate reactive maintenance activities
    • Monitor building performance metrics and implement optimization strategies
  • Technical Project Leadership
    • Lead facilities improvement projects from conception through completion
    • Manage system upgrades, retrofits, and new installations
    • Prepare technical specifications and manage contractor relationships
    • Ensure compliance with Irish building regulations and industry standards
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers
  • Compliance & Safety Management
    • Ensure full compliance with Irish health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards
    • Maintain comprehensive maintenance records
    • Conduct safety audits and manage statutory inspections and certifications
    • Implement and monitor safety protocols for all facilities operations
  • Strategic Planning & Reporting
    • Develop annual maintenance budgets and capital expenditure plans
    • Prepare detailed technical reports on building performance and maintenance activities
    • Provide improvement recommendations for senior management
    • Analyze operational data to identify cost reduction and performance enhancement opportunities
Essential Requirements
  • Education & Professional Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (mandatory)
    • Professional registration or working toward chartered status with Engineers Ireland (preferred)
    • Relevant facilities management certifications (advantageous)
  • Technical Expertise
    • Minimum 3-5 years experience in building services engineering or facilities management
    • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, power distribution, lighting, BMS)
    • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, specifications, and system documentation
  • Regulatory Knowledge
    • Thorough knowledge of Irish building regulations and health and safety legislation
    • Understanding of energy management principles and sustainability practices
    • Familiarity with statutory inspection requirements and certification processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building management systems (BMS)
  • Previous experience in commercial facilities or GMP facilities environment
