• Marine and fishing vessel repairs and maintenance.
• Plant and machinery repairs and general workshop duties.
• Measure, cut, drill and fit steel components and assemblies.

METAL FABRICATOR / MECHANICAL WORKSHOP TECHNICIANBeara Iron Works – Eyeries, West Cork, IrelandWe are looking for a practical, mechanically minded person to join our small fabrication and repair workshop in West Cork.This is a varied job – not just welding.Our work includes:Structural steel fabrication to EN 1090 standardsSteel and stainless-steel fabricationMIG and MMA weldingMarine and fishing vessel repairsPlant and machinery repairsHydraulic repairsBoat trailer manufacture and repairsCutting, drilling, grinding and fittingRepairing and modifying machinery and structuresGeneral mechanical and workshop repairsWe are a CE-certified structural steel fabrication company, and our work ranges from structural steel projects to marine repairs and machinery maintenance.The person we're looking forYou do not need to be a qualified welder.What matters most to us is that you are a practical, mechanically minded person who enjoys fixing and making things.You should ideally:Have some welding experienceBe confident using hand and power toolsUnderstand basic mechanical systemsBe able to dismantle and rebuild machineryBe able to measure, cut, drill and fit steelBe able to look at a problem and work out how to repair or modify itBe comfortable working on different types of equipmentBe able to work independentlyTake pride in doing a good jobBe willing to learn new skillsExperience in metal fabrication, agricultural machinery, plant machinery, marine work, mechanical repairs, engineering or similar trades would be an advantage.Practical ability and experience are more important to us than formal qualifications.Life in West CorkWe are located in Eyeries on the Beara Peninsula, right beside the Atlantic coast.The area is ideal for someone who enjoys the outdoors, with excellent opportunities for sea fishing, boating, hiking and exploring the coast.If fishing is your hobby, this is a particularly good place to live – the coast is right on your doorstep.Accommodation can be arranged near the workplace.You will be working in a workshop where every day is different.
