Job summary

M. Heffernan Engineering Ltd seeks a proactive Workshop Manager to lead our fabrication and prefabrication operations across Ireland and Europe. You will oversee day-to-day workshop management, drive safe, efficient delivery of pipework packages, and coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Site Teams.

The ideal candidate will manage workshop personnel, plan production schedules, ensure quality and implement continuous improvement across fabrication operations.

Qualifications

• Experience as Workshop Manager, Fabrication Manager, or Senior Supervisor in mechanical/fabrication.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings, isometrics, and engineering documents.
• Strong leadership, planning and organisational skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily workshop operations to meet safety and production targets.
• Lead and develop fabrication teams including welders and fabricators.
• Plan fabrication schedules in line with project deadlines.
• Monitor productivity, labour allocation, and workshop performance.
• Ensure pipework meets project specs and quality standards.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Site Teams.
• Maintain adherence to safety, environmental and quality procedures.
• Manage workshop equipment, maintenance, and resources.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in productivity and quality.
• Conduct toolbox talks, appraisals, and training.
• Assist with procurement planning, stock control and material management.
