Job summary

RCSI - Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin, invites applications for a Postdoctoral fellow or Research Assistant in epilepsy computational research. The role is a Specified Purpose Contract, up to 12 months, with potential extension, on-site at the Dublin campuses.

You will join a joint team led by Prof David Henshall and Dr Niamh Connolly, work with bioinformatics, single-cell datasets, and multi-omics integration, and contribute to open data sharing and publication.

Qualifications

• PhD in bioinformatics, computational neuroscience or a closely related field.
• Experience analysing single-cell RNA-seq and coding/noncoding RNA datasets.
• Strong programming skills in Python and R.
• Good organizational and project management abilities.
• Excellent communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct data QC analyses, bioinformatics and statistics for the CONTACTS project.
• Apply network analyses and data integration approaches.
• Maintain datasets and ensure FAIR data compliance, including deposition in open access repositories.
• Prepare reports and manuscripts for dissemination.
• Liaise with colleagues across departments and international partners.
• Adapt to flexible hours as research needs dictate.
