Roles available range from junior engineers to senior lead engineers, focusing on project design reviews and ensuring compliance with functional specifications. Candidates should hold an Electrical Engineering degree and have extensive experience in high voltage transmission design. The position offers a chance to contribute to a pivotal transformation in energy management.
We are the people behind Ireland’s electricity grid. We operate the power system with world leading levels of variable asynchronous renewable generation, ensuring that everyone has power when they need it. But that’s not all, we are now transforming the power system for future generations. And that’s just the beginning of our story. We have a critical purpose: to transform the power system to enable our society to reduce our carbon emissions and meet our climate change and net zero ambitions. Be part of the transformation!
We are now seeking Engineers to join our Engineering & Asset Management (E&AM) in our Cork office.
We have a range of new roles from junior engineers to senior lead engineers for the following areas: Client Engineering and Asset Management.

The client engineering function is responsible for undertaking project design reviews/site inspections on both contestable and non-contestable transmission projects to ensure that projects are developed in accordance with EirGrid functional specifications and standard drawings. Delivery of these projects is required to meet key departmental and company objectives.
The Engineering & Asset Management team is responsible for four key roles: asset management, technical authority, onshore engineering and offshore engineering. The team is responsible for setting the technical engineering policies and standards to be used for transmission infrastructure, monitoring compliance during design and construction, and ensuring asset integrity and uninterrupted power system functionality.
The Engineering and Asset Management Directorate within EirGrid facilitates that role through the development of technical standards and functional specifications for all plant to be connected to the transmission system and the development of new and innovative technologies and methodologies.
In addition, these areas are responsible for ensuring that EirGrid’s requirements are incorporated in project design and construction whether the works are carried out by ESB Networks or by third parties.
