Job summary

Mater Private Network is recruiting an Emergency Department Registrar for a full-time role commencing January 2027 at our hospital in Dublin. The post involves working under the supervision of Emergency Medicine Consultants to deliver a safe, efficient ED service across multiple locations.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Medicine with at least two years of ED experience, be registered with the Irish Medical Council, and possess exceptional communication, organizational and teamwork

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Medicine with at least 2 years ED experience.
• Registration with Irish Medical Council.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational ability, multitasking, and ability to work in a busy multi-location acute hospital.

Responsibilities

• Act under the supervision of Emergency Medicine Consultants to support the Emergency Medicine service.
• Assess Emergency patients safely; may include triage, ordering tests, and following up results.
• Liaise effectively with colleagues regarding patient referrals.
• Ensure proper handover and disposition of patients at end of shift (discharged, admitted, transferred or scheduled).
• Review patients regularly per the care plan and inform consultants of issues.
• Document findings in clinical notes in a timely, legible manner.

Job description

We are currently seeking to recruit an Emergency Department Registrar - Full Time for a January 2027 start.

Key responsibilities:

• Act under the supervision of the Emergency Medicine Consultants in the provision of an Emergency Medicine service and to support the Consultants in their duties.
• Be responsible for the safe and efficient assessment of Emergency patients. Duties may include triage, making orders and following up on results.
• Liaise effectively and in a timely manner in relation to patient referrals.
• Ensure all patients are appropriately dealt with at the end of the shift which may include discharged home, admitted, transferred elsewhere or treatment arranged for another time.
• Review patients on a regular basis in accordance with the plan of care and inform the consultant of any issues or problems.
• Document review findings in clinical notes in a timely and legible manner.
• Respond to any adverse occurrences e.g., injuries, falls, sudden illnesses, etc., suffered by patients, visitors, or staff.
• Comply with departmental clinical guidelines and protocols.
• Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team within the department and Hospital.

Requirements for the above post:

• Bachelor of Medicine with at least 2 years ED Experience.
• Registration with Irish Medical Council
• Candidates are required to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an awareness and sensitivity towards patient needs, excellent organisational skills with a proven ability to multitask and work under pressure and a willingness to work cooperatively as part of a team in an acute hospital setting over multiple locations.
