Job summary

Harry Walsh Associates Ltd. is seeking an electronics hardware design engineer to develop analog, digital and power electronics for servo-drive products in a multi-site team. You will ensure performance, cost and reliability targets are met, and that designs are ready for manufacture and test with DFM and DFT practices.

You will be involved in the full hardware life cycle from requirements to testing, participate in design reviews and provide on-site customer support when required.

Qualifications

• Degree in electronics or related field required.
• Knowledge of operation and control of permanent magnet synchronous motors.
• Experience with power conversion principles and thermal management.
• Experience with VHDL and hard real-time embedded development.
• Familiarity with FPGA communication with devices (A/D, D/A, encoders).

Responsibilities

• Design and development of hardware for servo-drive products (analog, digital, power electronics).
• Ensure designs meet performance, cost and reliability targets; compliant with regulatory standards and designed for manufacture and test (DFM/DFT).
• Participate in hardware life cycle activities from requirements to testing within a multi-site team.

Job description

Opportunity to work with leading designer and manufacturer of high reliability electronic motor control solutions.
Design & development of hardware (analog, digital and power electronics) for range of servo-drive products whilst ensuring that the products meet performance specifications, cost & reliability targets, comply with regulatory standards and are designed for manufacture & test (DFM &DFT)
Involved in all aspects of the hardware life cycle i.e. requirements definition, architectural design, implementation, integration and testing as part of a multi-site development team.
You will participate in design reviews and business reviews as required.
You will be expected to support a reasonable level of travel including on-site customer support.

Experience

• Relevant third level degree electronics or related. with knowledge of the operation and control of permanent magnet synchronous motors.
• Knowledge of power conversion principles, topologies and technologies, and thermal management
• Capability and experience in VHDL language.
• Experience of hard real-time embedded system developments to defined project schedules.
• Knowledge of electronic devices and FPGA communication with electronic devices (e.g. A/D, D/A, optical encoders).
