The role requires 3+ years post-apprenticeship in commercial maintenance and Irish electrical qualifications, with hands-on experience in switchgear, UPS, generators, and life-safety systems.

Qualifications

  • National Craft Certificate in Electrical or equivalent Irish qualification.
  • Thorough knowledge of Irish Rules for Electrical Installations.
  • Minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship in commercial maintenance.
  • Hands-on with switchgear, UPS, generators, and life-safety systems.
  • Professional, client-facing demeanor with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute PPM schedules and respond to reactive calls across power boards, UPS, lighting controls (DALI) and main plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoot LV electrical faults and perform safe isolation per Safe Electric Ireland/NSAI and LOTO.
  • Conduct periodic inspections, emergency lighting verification, and IS 3218 fire alarm testing.
  • Monitor BMS and emergency backup systems to safeguard IT/workspace uptime.
  • Coordinate external vendors, manage RAMS, permits and CBRE QHSE processes.
  • Record work progress and log asset histories using the CAFM platform.

Job description

Are you an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking to advance your career at the forefront of modern engineering infrastructure? CBRE, the global leader in commercial real estate services, is looking for a dedicated technical professional to join our on-site engineering team at a flagship tech campus in the heart of Dublin. This role goes beyond standard facilities maintenance: you will oversee high-spec power delivery systems, advanced smart-building automation, and mission-critical resilience infrastructure supporting thousands of world-class innovators daily.

What You'll Do
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and rapidly respond to reactive calls across power distribution boards, UPS systems, automated lighting controls (DALI), and primary plant equipment.
  • Troubleshoot complex LV electrical faults and perform safe isolation's adhering strictly to Safe Electric Ireland / NSAI standards and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Conduct mandatory periodic inspections, emergency lighting verification, and fire alarm routine testing (IS 3218) to ensure full compliance with the Commission for Regulation of Utilities and Irish statutory regulations.
  • Monitor building management systems and emergency backup systems (generators, transfer switches) to safeguard up time across critical IT and corporate workspace operations.
  • Coordinate and permit external specialist vendors, overseeing work permits, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under CBRE's rigorous QHSE framework.
  • Support client ESG targets by monitoring sub-metering trends, optimising baseboard loads, and driving on-site energy conservation initiatives.
  • Record work order progression, log plant status updates, and manage asset histories using our modern Computer-Aided Facilities Management platform.
What We're Looking For
  • National Craft Certificate in Electrical (QQI / FETAC Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate) or an equivalent recognised Irish electrical trade qualification.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the Irish National Rules for Electrical Installations.
  • Minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship experience in commercial maintenance, ideally within corporate tech offices, modern headquarters, or mission-critical/data centre environments.
  • Hands-on experience with switch gear, central UPS systems, standby generators, and addressable fire/life-safety systems.
  • Professional, client-facing demeanor with strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for a high-pace, collaborative tech campus.
