Electrical Stores Operative (Fixed-Term)

Job Title : Electrical Stores Operative

Contract : Fixed-Term (12 months)

Role Purpose:

The Electrical Stores Operative will be responsible for the effective management of electrical stock, including receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining accurate inventory levels. This role will support a main project, ensuring that all deliveries are checked, documented, and signed off, while maintaining compliance with company procedures and health & safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and check all incoming deliveries of electrical materials, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders/delivery notes.
• Sign off deliveries, reporting any discrepancies or damages promptly.
• Carry out regular stock takes and cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory levels.
• Maintain a well-organised and clean stores area, ensuring stock is stored safely and accessibly.
• Monitor stock usage and highlight shortages or re-order requirements.
• Issue electrical materials, tools, and equipment to staff in a controlled and documented manner.
• Ensure proper handling, labelling, and storage of electrical components and consumables.
• Keep accurate records of all stock movements in line with company systems.
• Support compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in the stores area.
• Liaise with suppliers, delivery drivers, and site personnel as required.
• Assist in improving stores procedures and efficiency.

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or materials handling role (electrical/mechanical background desirable).
• Good knowledge of electrical components, consumables, and tools (preferred).
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to carry out stock takes and maintain accurate records.
• Competent in using IT systems / stock management software.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
