Job summary

Egis in Ireland seeks an Electrical Engineering Lead to plan and manage multi-disciplinary projects across infrastructure and buildings. You will comment on designs, prepare scopes, and ensure end-to-end quality from concept to completion.

The role requires chartered status or active pursuit, strong regulatory know-how, and a track record of delivering on time and within budget. Mentoring junior staff is a key part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively pursuing chartership.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Competent in electrical design software and technology.
  • Highly motivated and proactive with a willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Maximo experience is advantageous.
  • ATEX qualification and energy sector experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage projects to ensure timely delivery and budget compliance.
  • Review and comment on reports or designs.
  • Create scope and estimates and assign work to appropriate entity.
  • Review completion certificates for end-to-end process.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and national electrical regs.
  • Prepare contract documentation and specifications to meet industry standards.
  • Design and review work of junior engineers for quality.
  • Coordinate with design team to meet project objectives.
  • Ensure designs and documents meet high standards.
  • Estimate and control project costs to maximize client value.
  • Compile project reports for accurate, timely information.
  • Conduct conceptual design studies to inform decisions.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers in the team.

About the Role
  • Project planning and management to ensure timely delivery and budget compliance.
  • Review and make comment on reports or designs.
  • Create scope and estimates and assign large and small work to appropriate entity.
  • Review completion certificates to complete the end to end process.
  • Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and national electrical regulations.
  • Preparation of contract documentation and specifications to meet industry standards.
  • Designing and reviewing design work of intermediate and junior engineers to ensure high‑quality deliverables.
  • Coordination of work with all members of the design team to achieve project objectives.
  • Ensuring that all designs and documents are prepared to the highest standards.
  • Estimating and cost control on projects to maximize value for clients.
  • Compiling project reports to provide accurate and timely information.
  • Conceptual design studies and reports to inform project decisions.
  • Mentoring and development of junior and intermediate engineers in the team to enhance their skills and knowledge.
What do we need from you

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively pursuing chartership.
  • Technically excellent with in-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience in leading and supervising multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Competent in electrical design software and technology.
  • Highly motivated and proactive with a willingness to take on new challenges.

Advantageous

  • Maximo experience.
  • Diploma or Masters Degree in Project Management.
  • ATEX qualification and experience.
  • Certified Energy Manager or experience in energy sector.
  • Experience working with water and waste water treatment plants.
