Job description

Red Chair Recruitment are presently recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer for our clients in County Kerry. You will come with strong PLC and automation expertise to support the design, development, and integration of advanced industrial machinery and control systems. The role involves working closely with mechanical and software teams to deliver efficient, reliable, and smart automation solutions for agricultural applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and document electrical and control systems.
  • Create wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel layouts using CAD software (e.g. EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical)
  • Program, test, and commission PLCs, HMIs, and motion controllers.
  • Specify and select electrical components—sensors, drives, relays, contactors, and control panels
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, EMC, CE directives, and IP protection requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and service teams to optimise machine performance

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Degree in Electrical / Mechatronic Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong PLC programming and fault-finding skills
  • Experience in automation, control panels, and industrial wiring
