NexGen Recruitment Ltd on behalf of a leading European construction and civil engineering company seeks an experienced Health and Safety professional for a prominent build project in Waterford.

The role focuses on promoting safe working practices, ensuring ISO 45001/14001 compliance, conducting site inspections, delivering HSE training, and supporting incident investigations to drive safety and sustainability on site.

Qualifications

  • Level 7 qualification in health and safety.
  • Working towards graduate IOSH membership.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Ability to deliver internal HSE training.
  • Ability to conduct standard accident/incident investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safe working practices and implement HSE policy on site.
  • Carry out regular site HSE inspections and report findings.
  • Prepare HSE reports in agreed format for project reviews.
  • Assist project management and sub-contractors with risk assessments.
  • Deliver HSE training as agreed with Project Manager.
  • Investigate incidents and support improvements with the HSE manager.

NexGen are working with a leading well-established European wide construction and civil engineering company in their search for an experienced Health and Safety professional for a prominent build project in Waterford. Our Client has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across various sectors, including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure the implementation of company HSE policy and procedures on site.
  • Carry out regular site HSE inspections and report back findings to relevant personnel
  • Ensure that the project has been provided with the relevant HSE documentation
  • Ensure that HSE project plans meet company standards
  • Ensure that HSE issues are discussed at project review meetings.
  • Keep and maintain clear records to comply with company internal and external audit standards
  • Assist project management team members and sub-contractor owners with risk assessments and sub-contractor evaluations and documentation review when requested
  • Deliver HSE training where appropriate and as agreed with the Project Manager
  • Suggest, communicate and promote initiatives for incident prevention and forward to Project Manager / HSE & Sustainability Manager for consideration
  • Support the Project Manager in incident investigation
  • Keep up to date on HSE legislation and industry best practice
  • Liaising with the relevant legal authorities (i.e. H.S.A, EPA etc.)
  • Knowledge of all legal requirements especially regarding the PSCS role and duties.
  • Attend relevant HSE meetings as required
  • Prepare HSE reports as required and submit in the agreed format
  • Identify ideas for HSE improvement and issues submitting to the project manager and the HSE & Sustainability manager for consideration.
  • Assist managers with safety and environmental submissions, risk assessments and vendor evaluations when requested.
  • Ensure all incidents are thoroughly investigated and reported and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Provide the HSEQ Department with relevant HSE information on a quarterly basis.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Level 7 qualification in health and safety
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO: 45001 and ISO: 14001 standards.
  • Working towards graduate membership of IOSH.
  • Ability to deliver internal health and safety management courses.
  • Ability to advise on HSE issues on a day to day basis on site.
  • Ability to conduct standard accident/incident investigations.
  • Ability to write HSE site reports.
