  • Respond to plant alarms, provide fault-finding and corrective actions on site.
  • Oversee service providers and contractors, inductions and safe work.
  • Support O&M asset management planning and outages, and mobilise new assets.

Distributed Generation is a department within Renewable Operations (ESB Generation and Trading) with responsibility for the management of the Operation and Maintenance of ESB’s Distributed Generation asset portfolio.

Distributed Generation is a department within Renewable Operations (ESB Generation and Trading) with responsibility for the management of the Operation and Maintenance of ESB’s Distributed Generation asset portfolio. As part of delivery of the Net Zero by 2040 Strategy it is our ambition that we will generate 70% of our electricity generation from renewable assets by 2030. This includes 900MW of solar (dependent on planning and development) and also incorporates 500 MW of renewables enabling flexible generation assets including battery energy storage systems, gas turbine peaking plants and grid support devices such as synchronous condensers.

Due to the projected significant expansion of the Distributed Generation portfolio over the coming years, ESB is seeking to appoint a Distributed Generation Site Manager (South-East Region) within the Distributed Generation O&M team.

The role of the Distributed Generation Site Manager is to manage all Operation and Maintenance activities on multiple sites and technologies. The role forms part of a wider team of Distributed Generation Site Managers. This position offers candidates an exciting opportunity to join an expanding business area and gain significant site and commercial experience.

Responsibilities will be as per business needs and flexibility to adapt to these needs will be a core requirement of this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for the onsite operations of Solar Generation in the South-East region.
  • Ensure safety and environmental obligations are met for efficient operation of plant on those sites, including local operation of plant as required. Implement and maintain plant procedures, site policies and safety programs.
  • Provide a timely on-site response to plant alarms and events both during and outside normal working hours.
  • Provide fault finding response and corrective intervention to site electrical, mechanical and C&I issues
  • Management of service providers and contractors onsite including performing inductions and setting to work as required.
  • Manage, administer and ensure compliance with the ESB Safety Rules in operation. This role may involve undertaking various roles within the ESB Safety Rules.
  • Support optimisation of lifetime O&M and asset management planning.
  • Undertake/support ad hoc O&M projects as assigned
  • Manage planned and unplanned site outages
  • Support other Site Managers as required
  • Support mobilisation of new assets in the region
Essential Experience and Qualifications
  • 5 years work experience in hands-on operation and maintenance of generating plant or relevant process industry.
  • A Technical or Engineering Qualification (preferably Mechanical/Electrical/C&I) or equivalent experience with plant operation or maintenance.
  • Have knowledge of generation equipment, including fault finding ability.
  • Have a proven track record in Safety leadership
Desirable
  • Trained, authorised and experienced in ESB Generation and Trading Safety Rules
  • Understanding of the commercial side of the generation business
  • Experience in front line maintenance activities
Location

The successful candidate will be based on site at the relevant Distributed Generation site locations in the South-East region (Waterford/Kilkenny). Rotation within Distributed Generation O&M may feature as part of this role.

Salary

€59,980 - €70,564 per annum
