Job summary

Nua Healthcare is seeking an experienced Nursing/Service Manager to oversee psychiatric services in Ireland. You will co-operate with the employer, comply with Mental Health Acts and work toward maintaining safe, compliant operations in line with national standards.

The role emphasises roster planning, staff development, infection control, and proactive communication with regulators, patients and staff to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the NMBI.
• Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (QQI Level 8 or higher) or working towards.
• Minimum 8+ years post qualification nursing experience.
• Minimum 5+ years in management within psychiatric nursing.
• Strong communication with team, management, and external contractors.

Responsibilities

• Develop the roster in line with patient needs and risk management.
• Maintain quality of service in line with regulations and mental health acts.
• Retain and develop staff; ensure infection control standards meet policy.
• Ensure effective team communication and escalation compliance.
• Participate in research projects relevant to mental health nursing.

To develop the roster in line with the assessed needs and risk management approach to the Patients in the Centre. Maintain quality of Service in line with Regulations and Mental Health Act 2001 to ensure that the centre is safe, and patients' needs are catered for in line with the Act. To maintain the highest level of infection control standards as directed by company policy and national best practice guidance in the utmost interests for the Safety, Health and welfare for yourself, your colleagues, our patients and any other persons in so far as is reasonable and practicable. Ensure that the team communication is optimised within the centre. To take all possible precautions to safeguard the welfare and safety of staff, patients, visitors, and the public by implementing all policies and procedures relating to security- procedural, relational, and physical. To Participate in a rotational on call system and to ensure compliance with Escalation Policy. To take an active part in research projects relevant to mental health nursing practice.

Other Requirements

Knowledge, understanding and familiarity with the Health Act 2007, The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice. Genuine respect and empathy for diversity and individuality. Responsible and mature approach to work. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt to new environments. Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills under pressure, ability to work on your own initiative. Ability to set high personal standards of performance and delivery of desired results.

Skills Requirement

Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (QQ1 Level 8 or higher) or working towards and/or equivalent may be an advantage, or a contractual undertaking to acquire within 3 years from the date of appointment. A minimum of 8+ years post qualification/registration nursing experience. A minimum of 5+ years relevant experience in a management position within the area of Psychiatric nursing. Ability to effectively and concisely communicate with team members, management, external contractors, and any other key business relationships. Full Clean Drivers Licence #Nua1
