A national charity organization based in Ireland is seeking a Volunteer Board Director to help stabilize and grow funding. The role involves fundraising, financial oversight, and strategic contributions to ensure effective governance. Ideal candidates will have a strong business acumen, experience in fundraising, and a genuine commitment to the mission of reducing loneliness through community engagement.
hOur Timebank CLG (t/a Timebank Ireland) is a national charity built on a powerful, inclusive idea: everyone's time is equally valuable. We are building a shared economy that empowers communities, reduces isolation, and champions social value by using time as a currency.
Our Timebanking model is proven to succeed: for every €1 invested in our work, we generate an estimated €16 in Social Value. We facilitate the exchange of skills and time to eradicate loneliness and build deep community connections across Ireland.
Timebank Ireland is at a critical moment. Our social model is effective and life-changing, but we have recently lost our main income stream, and we urgently need help to restore our financial stability.
We are looking for a passionate individual to join our board as a third director. This is a hands‑on opportunity for someone who believes in our mission and is ready to work with our existing directors to rescue and rebuild our funding base.
If you have a business mindset, know how to raise money, or are experienced in organization building, we need your help to secure the future of Timebank Ireland.
This is a vital, hands‑on role focusing on the stability and growth of the organization. Your responsibilities will include:
Fundraising & Income Generation: Focusing on finding new, sustainable funding streams. This includes identifying grant opportunities, setting up new appeals, or exploring potential earned income models to replace the lost shop revenue.
Financial Oversight: Working with the board to review budgets, monitor our financial health, and plan for the organization’s long‑term sustainability.
Governance Support: Helping us maintain good governance standards and comply with the Charities Governance Code, ensuring the organization is properly managed and accountable.
Strategic Direction: Contributing practical ideas and guidance to help us stabilize the organization and create a new 12‑month plan for growth.
Ideally, you will have practical knowledge and experience in one or more of these areas:
Getting Funds: Experience in fundraising, grant writing, making public appeals, or generating earned income.
Managing Money: Practical experience in small business finance, bookkeeping, or non‑profit budget oversight.
Business/Management: Experience in developing a business plan, managing a small organization, or navigating change/crisis.
Passion and Commitment: Above all, a genuine belief in the power of timebanking to change lives and a willingness to commit time to this crucial turnaround phase.
This is a voluntary (unpaid) Non‑Executive Director role. While we meet regularly (approximately 8‑10 times per year, online), we are looking for someone ready to dedicate extra time (approx. 6‑8 hours/month for the first year) to help us stabilize and rebuild. We will only consider applicants who reside in the Repulic of Ireland.
As a Director (Charity Trustee), you will be legally responsible for ensuring the organization complies with charity law and acts in its best interest at all times.
Please include a brief Personal Bio or cover letter explaining why our mission to eradicate loneliness resonates with you and how your skills—in any of the areas mentioned—can help us secure our funding future.
