Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Social Care Manager in the daily running of the residential service, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance.
  • Supervise, guide, and support the social care team, promoting teamwork, accountability, and reflective practice.
  • Deputise for the Manager in their absence, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Ensure care plans and placement plans are implemented in line with each young person's individual needs.
  • Promote the rights, safety, and wellbeing of young people in accordance with the Children First Act 2015 and National Standards for Children's Residential Centres.
  • Encourage education, independence, and participation in community life.
  • Maintain accurate and professional records, reports, and communication logs.
  • Participate in supervision, training, audits, and the on‑call rota as required.
Qualifications
  • Level 7 or higher qualification in Applied Social Care (CORU‑approved), or a related qualification such as Psychology, Youth & Community Work, Social Work, Teaching, or Nursing.
  • Minimum three years' experience working at Social Care grade with children or young people.
  • An individual who does not hold a recognised or relevant qualification but is registered with CORU as a Social Care Worker and possesses a minimum of three years' full‑time post‑qualification experience may be considered for the position of Deputy Manager.
Other Requirements
  • Full, clean driving licence (manual).
  • Strong understanding of Irish legislation and standards, including the Children First Act 2015, Health Act 2007, Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, and GDPR 2018.
  • TCI/CPI / PMAV / MAPA or equivalent crisis intervention training.
  • First Aid, Fire Safety, and Manual Handling certification.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff within residential care.
  • Familiarity with trauma‑informed and positive behaviour support approaches.
