Job summary

AIB in Ireland is seeking a senior data platforms engineer to lead the design, delivery and support of cloud-based data and analytics platforms that serve enterprise functions such as HR, Finance and Risk.

You will own platform management, drive performance, security and resilience, and work with cross-functional teams to translate complex business needs into robust technical designs, including Databricks on Azure.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ technical experience supporting cloud based data or analytics platforms, with hands on experience administering Databricks on Azure.
  • Proven track record in design and delivery of technical solutions to complex business needs, and in proposing the resolution of issues for technical deliveries.
  • A strong proven track record in the delivery of IT enabled change.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with other enterprise data and analytics technologies an advantage (e.g. Teradata, SAS, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric).

Responsibilities

  • Execute on the data and analytics strategy to shape and modernise our data platforms.
  • Lead the delivery of complex platform requirements, including cross-IT technical components.
  • Manage assigned data platforms, leading internal and external support resources and working with support partners to deliver effective configuration, monitoring, optimisation, performance and incident management across multiple environments.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with team members (internal or external), senior stakeholders and subject matter experts to translate complex business needs into a clear functional design.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise governance and regulatory requirements, including security standards, data protection, auditability and operational resilience expectations.
  • Champion a Customer First culture in support of our Purpose, strategic ambition and Brand Values, by ensuring processes and procedures consistently promote good outcomes for all our customers.
  • Demonstrate technical Knowledge of cloud platforms in particular Microsoft Azure and Databricks.
  • Development and deployment of data platforms that meet the organisational needs.
  • Resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Own platform management responsibilities ensuring quality service delivery meeting expected SLAs

What Is The Role

The Data Platforms team is responsible for the design, delivery and support of technology solutions for key Enterprise functions including HR, Finance, Risk and Data.

The Data Platforms team within Data & Analytics is at the heart of transformation, modernisation and delivery of business critical applications that provide critical services to the business and our stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities
  • Execute on the data and analytics strategy to shape and modernise our data platforms
  • Lead the delivery of complex platform requirements, including cross-IT technical components. Using judgement to challenge requirements and proposes options in order to reach an achievable solution. Working closely with the IT solution provider or partner providing guidance on the functional need.
  • Manage assigned data platforms, leading internal and external support resources and working with support partners to deliver effective configuration, monitoring, optimisation, performance and incident management across multiple environments.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with team members (internal or external), senior stakeholders and subject matter experts to translate complex business needs into a clear functional design. Supporting solution design across IT areas as required to establish the most appropriate and fit for purpose solution to achieve the outcome.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise governance and regulatory requirements, including security standards, data protection, auditability and operational resilience expectations.
  • Champion a Customer First culture in support of our Purpose, strategic ambition and Brand Values, by ensuring processes and procedures consistently promote good outcomes for all our customers.
