KennCo Underwriting, one of Ireland’s largest Insurance MGAs, is looking to hire a Reporting/Data Analyst to work in their busy IT Department. Located on the Grange Road in Rathfarnham, this innovative underwriting agency seeks a dynamic individual who can fit into the Reports Analyst role. You will have a degree in computer science / information technology / or a computer‑related discipline and at least 3+ years of similar experience in a financial company (or comparable industry) and will be comfortable working with all aspects of the data lifecycle.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop, maintain, and optimise SQL queries and stored procedures for reporting and analysis.
- Produce and maintain regular MI reports using Cognos and SSRS, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Extract, clean, and manipulate data from Microsoft Dynamics and other internal systems.
- Support the creation of dashboards and visual reports using Power BI to enhance business insights.
- Conduct ad‑hoc analysis to support operational teams, finance, underwriting and senior management.
- Assist in data validation, data quality assurance, and automation of recurring reports.
- Collaborate with IT and business users to ensure data integrity across systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of MI processes, including documentation and process automation.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst.
- Strong SQL skills (including complex joins, subqueries, CTEs, and aggregations).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data‑analysis functions, charting).
- Experience with data extraction and manipulation from relational databases.
- Knowledge of Power BI, creating and developing new dashboards, as well as maintaining and updating existing ones – a distinct advantage.
- Previous experience in the insurance industry – a distinct advantage.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (CRM or ERP data structures).
- Experience with Cognos for MI development and report building.
- Familiarity with SSRS for report automation and scheduling.
- Exposure to Power BI (data modelling, DAX, visualisations).
- Basic knowledge of Python or R for data analysis and automation.
- Understanding of insurance industry data (policies, claims, premiums, etc.).
- Familiarity with ETL processes or data warehousing concepts.
- Good quality presentation and communication skills, especially with non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
