Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Data Engineer in Dublin to join a growing fintech tech team. This contract-to-hire role starts on a day-rate contract with the aim of a permanent position.

You will work on a modern AWS-based data platform, handling data ingestion, orchestration, automation, deployment, modelling, and platform support within a CI/CD, GitOps/DataOps framework.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years’ experience in Data Engineering or technical analytics.
• Strong Python skills with production-quality code.
• Strong SQL with joins, aggregations, and window functions.
• Experience with data ingestion and pipeline development.
• Familiarity with Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or similar.
• Hands-on AWS experience, especially S3 and IAM.
• Experience with Git and PR workflows.
• Understanding of CI/CD and SDLC practices.
• Strong attention to detail and structured problem solving.
• Good written communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with Snowflake and dbt for data modelling.
• Docker or ECS experience and data quality/observability tooling.
• Knowledge of RBAC and data masking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a modern AWS-based data platform across ingestion, orchestration, automation, deployment, modelling, and platform support.
• Work within CI/CD and GitOps/DataOps practices and ensure quality through testing and automation.

About Your New Job

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a growing technology team in Dublin. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, initially offered on a day-rate contract with the intention to transition to a permanent position.

You’ll work on a modern AWS-based Data Platform, contributing across data ingestion, orchestration, automation, application deployment, data modelling, and platform support. You’ll also work within a structured engineering environment using CI/CD, GitOps/DataOps practices, testing, and automation.

What Skills You Need

• 1–3 years’ experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a technical analytics role
• Strong Python skills with experience writing and maintaining production-quality code
• Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, and window functions
• Experience with data ingestion and data pipeline development
• Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or similar
